Hike 2: Maxwell Falls

Got the hiking bug again on the third but quite honestly wasn’t feeling the best. Not really sick, just tired and like my thyroid was being pissy. I have Hashimotos and every day is kind of a gamble. I can usually control if I make healthy choices, but sometimes something as simple as lack of sleep can make for a not so great day. Such is life 🤷🏼‍♀️ and there are people out there dealing with a LOT worse.

Because I wasn’t feeling my best, I picked the Upper Maxwell Falls trail because it was super short and super close. Oh, and waterfall. Your girl loves her a good waterfall, even frozen.

I loaded up the gals and we made the trek out to Evergreen. The parking lot was super small, but relatively empty because it was a weekday. We ventured out and I quite naturally immediately took the wrong trail 😂. I realized this after about 10 minutes (thanks, AllTrails), but felt better as soon as I started hiking and decided, why not?

We ended up doing the full Maxwell Falls Loop and it clocked in at 4.3 miles (AllTrails shows 875 feet of elevation gain). We initially veered to the trail furthesr to the right which led us through a really nice open area with some great views. It eventually crossed a frozen river and led to the Lower Maxwell Falls Parking lot. From that point we turned back on the same trail until it split and ventured to the Falls. Even frozen, I managed to get my mermaid fix ❤️.

I really liked this trail and would love to go back when it’s warmer! My girls had an absolute blast and this trail would be perfect for kiddos, too. I did the trail in spikes, but it would have been doable in just boots. I would say moderate is a fair rating and it was overall a very pleasant, easy hike.

Happy hiking ✌🏼❤️🏔!
