Welcome to 2020: Hike 1 Red Rocks & Morrison Slide Trail

WE MADE IT, BEBES 🦄!

2020, here we are. Instead of going out on New Years Eve, I decided to work, grab some sushi and champagne, and ring in the new year with my two beautiful girls...my dogs. I just got out of a relationship and honestly had zero desire to go out...a lot of people found this weird, but after last year, I honestly just wanted it to be like any other night 🤷🏼‍♀️.

I knew without a doubt I’d be hiking on the first. I had *hoped* to do something new and exciting, but after checking the weather, I decided to forgo my initial plans. I was a little bummed, but ended up doing an amazing sunset hike with both dogs at Red Rocks. This was actually perfect because Red Rocks holds so many amazing memories for me ❤️, kind of felt like it was meant to be.

The Red Rocks & Morrison slide trail is rated as moderate and I’d say that’s fair. It felt longer than the mileage and the incline is fairly steady if you take the Red Rocks side up. I’d really like to try this trail out for trail running when it’s not so icy. I didn’t use spikes (stop and take them out of my backpack, ughhhh), but could have on the way down as the Slide side was snow and ice covered (watch out for red ice, y’all!).

Because we went so late, the trail was nearly empty, which was just lovely because there’s so much to take in. I have done this trail before in the summer and MUCH prefer doing it in cooler weather because Red Rocks gets so crowded and it was HOT 🔥.

1/52 done, 3.7 miles, 679 ft. Thanks for a great start, Red Rocks! So excited to keep this vibe going for the rest of the year.
